Random question that probably doesn't deserve it's own thread..

I was just thinking about this... Why does BMW only put wipers with a spoiler on the driver's side? I was looking on the 330 and you could fit one on the passenger's side. I know the last-gen 5er had spoilers on both sides and I think the new E60 and the 6 series have spoilers on both sides... Is it just another wierd BMW thing?

i know that the spoiler helps keep the wiper against the windshield better... perhaps under wind tunnel testing, they found they only needed it on the driver's side?

how does the the right hand drive cars look? which side is the spoiler on?

Well I can see why they'd have it on the driver's side, but why not on both sides? I mean why wouldn't you want both wipers to have better contact? I think on RHD the spoiler is on the opposite side (still the driver's side though) becuase the wipers are reversed.

I wondered that too. It's same on the E46 and E53.

If oyu buy aftermaket wipers of higher quality (like PIAA Sporza), they have spoilers on both sides, just like God intended it to be in the first place.

I'm thinking of getting a wiper with a spoiler for the passenger's side, too.

With the E60 they are putting wiper spoilers on both sides because when the driver is fiddling with the iDrive the passenger has to see clearly while steering.
