Which OBDII should I buy??

Hi All, I want to buy and OBDII scanner/reader. I had to have my airbag light reset yesterday at a cost of A$58 for literally 2 mins work.

(light came on as I removed the front passenger seat....without disconnecting the battery....d'oh!)

As I like to do a lot of my own work on the X5 I thought maybe I should buy an OBDII tool.

What do you experts suggest?

This forum rocks !!!

Hello Acattaneo, I have not got one yet. I needed it for the air bag light, however I went to the dealer. Theone mentioned here does not reset the light. I think only Carsoft software can do that.

reset tool

I checked ebay and found one for about $60+, but I think I will go by the BMW dealer this week and ask them to reset it for free, I just got $500.00 worth of parts last month so might be nice and do it for me . If they dont then I will just get the cheap reset tool on ebay.

I hope they do reset it for free. I was not happy with the AU$58 charge, considering if the fuel cap is not correctly fitted after a re-fuel the light comes on. This of course was not what caused mine. I removed the passenger seat and mistakenly turned the ignition key on.

Airbag sensor light

I went to East Bay BMW in Pleasanton this morning and asked to have my airbag light reset. To my suprise they took my keys and my X5 and came back 5 min'ts later and told to have a nice day!

They told me they are trying to be the biggest dealer in the USA and they are moving to a 8 acre location down the street and hope I would do bussiness with them in the Future. :domn:
