What is this?

Hi all. Just want to know what the device (which is pointed at by a red line) is in below picture? This is the back side of a xenon headlight for pre-facelifted x5. Thanks!

That part is typically not there on a halogen unit...

Why during the start of the machine the lights moves for a second? They make a vertical movement from down to up.

same reason, we are talking about a "self leveling motor"

your lights move to adjust themselves so they dont sit to high or to low when u first start up your car

i dont know about non-xenons, but for xenons like mine, it is the self levelling motor inside

Only seems to be USA spec vehicles that don't get the self-leveling halogen headlights. Most everywhere else gets them and it a[ppears to be the exact same setup as the Xenon system. Another $.02 saving for the North American market!

they got to shave those $$ off to keep USA base prices low. tough to compete in this market otherwise.
