new hood emblem

'01 x5 3.0...I didn't see previous posts about this so I'll try the general community...the paint on my hood emblem is all chipped off so I would like to replace it...anyone know how to remove/replace? Looks like it might be bolted on?

Also, any advice on where to get a new one?...looks like Ebay has them for $30...

The BMW name for them is "Roundel" Some folks call the badges. Here's a start. http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...hlight=Roundel

Careful with the nylon banding tape - it works well to pop roundels, but don't use just any banding tape. Some tapes have a smooth surface; others have a rough surface which can cause paint abrasions.

The fishing line recommendation is what I've always used. Use a low to medium test line - it doesn't take much effort to pop the roundel loose. Use the fishing line as if it were floss.

And do replace your roundel with a carbon fiber version for maximum bling effect.

Alright so mine has chipped off as well. I was not happy finding this out this morning.

So what do y'all suggest...taking back to stealer to replace, or just order the EAS set? Would the EAS set be more durable than the stock replacement?

the quality is great, and it's not one of those you just stick on top, but they don't come in the original roundel colors

My dealer replaced mine for free. I think the normal cost is under $15, but I could be wrong. Check with Morristown!

Thanks! If I go to the dealer I would rather not pay. For $60, the EAS could be a good option for a "mini-mod."

Did mine last week

$15 at stlr.
Open the hood, use a small screwdriver, push the posts out of the grommets, clean underneath, and replace!
Simple
