Inaccurate Fuel Level

Hi all,

My fuel level meter is still not showing the accurate remaining fuel level. While driving on a highway today and even tough it showed 1/8 of a tank left (needle in between 0 and 1st mark, and the "orange" low fuel light was NOT on), the fuel went out and the car shut itself down suddenly.... I was VERY VERY lucky that the last drop of the fuel took me to just one foot away from the safety area.

Anyway, got a Taxi to the petrol station and bought 8 liters of fuel back... put them in and the car started and ran without any problem.

I had the fuel level sensor and fuel pumped replaced already, a couple of weeks ago. What else could be causing the inaccurate ready? The meter (cluster) itself?

Thanks.

Forget to mention that it's a 2002 E53 4.6iS.

Anyone?

Thanks.

I think that the siphon hose between the pump on the right side of the fuel tank to the pickup on the left side of tank may be disconnected hope this helps
cheers Rondo

don't know much about how to get to it (went to the stealer for my issue), but im like 99.9% sure you could not have accidently loosened it doing that install.

Ok. Thanks!

I'll get the workshop to have a check. It may not have been connected properly when the fuel pump was replaced a couple of weeks ago. May be that explains why the I had to pump like 84 liters last week when the orange light just came on.
