Question Retrofit Navigation

If I were to get a 16:9 navigation monitor with the tape player and all that. Could I use that as a replacement radio by just using the same white plug my existing radio and the navigation radio do? I KNOW I wouldn't get GPS fuction or anythig like that. But could I just get the radio function to work with the screen?

I know this topic has been covered a few times on bimmerfest on the E39 forums. The general consensus is that it will NOT work. The wiring harness is different and you would have to swap the amp. When you have done all that, mind as well add the NAV computer.

NEVER DO THAT !!

I've tried...and I've burned a 16/9 screens...

If you want to have a 16/9, you have to buy a new harness and a new radio module ... and a brain (dvd module or Tv tuner)

Hope this help
