Most likely the window regulator. They are notorious for going bad. Take it to a dealer, hopefully you are under warranty, and the replacement will be free.

If out of warranty, buy the replacement regulator from your local parts counter and use the DIY found on the home page to replace it yourself.

Just replaced my regulator
As you can see, I am new to the forum. In fact, I just purchased my 2002 4.6is three days ago. Unfortunately, the second day owning the car my regulator failed as well. I took it to the dealer and it costs approximately $410 to fix. Not an expense that you want to incur after only owning the vehicle for two days. Best of luck with yours. There is a good DIY link on this website with pretty good instructions.

It will cost you around $100 to DIY (and maybe a couple of beers
).

I had both of my back window regulators go out over a weekend a couple of months ago. Cost me about $520 to have them both fixed/replaced at an independant.

I've replaced 3 out of 4 of mine. Not that difficult to do if you can follow instuctions and have some basic mechanical ability.
