x5 nov 2004 battery needs topping up?

Hi there cant find the posts or pics of the batteries i saw in the past on x5 world , so does anyone know if x5 batteries need topping up or are they sealed for life type jobs?also reading posts on how sensitive the electronics are in the x5 i am a tad concerned at plugging the below into my dc socket(would be good if it works as i dont drive much and could do with a slow top up via the )

I agree that if it is orig., it is on borrowed time...
Yes, give the level a look, if you choose; pry up the "covers".
Level should be just above plates. Haven't used a solar
charger, but I do use a Battery Tender often and, use it
for long term storage, with no ill effects.

Hi omodos,
From my fading memory, Yes...I believe most oe and replica batts have a cross plug on each side of batt, under the sticker.

But, how do you know your batt needs topping off, other than its age and assumption?

If I was going to go through the process of digging into the trunk to get to the batt for topping off, I would replace the damn thing. I seem to recall yours was orig; if so, it is long overdue to be replaced, and why not replace it on your schedule vs when it croaks at an inopportune moment?

Motordavid, took a look over the weekend not too bad getting to battery, damn pain in the butt though cos of spare tire, but nope couldn't top up there are no cross plugs under the stickers on the oe battery, just smooth plugs, tried to pry one off and thought nope will do more damage than good....you are right better get a new one, it is an 04 as has it stamped on one of the terminals and probably overdue to be replaced
