Facotry NAV broken

My factory nav on my '00 4.4i has a dead screen. I am thinking about replacing it with the Pioneer AVIC-Z2 with all the options. Will this be difficult to do in this vehicle or should I look at some other options (i.e. either fixing NAV screen or replacing current unit, or replacing unit with newer OEM model?) Will I be screwing up theft codes or removing any vital CPU's from the vehicle?

you may want to upgrade to the 16:9 aspect ratio screen from 2002+ X5s since you already have the components wired into your car. and you'll keep the oem look

Yea screw the 4:3, it's crappy. Where can I get the 16:9 one? I would like to retain the onboard stats stuff and oem look especially if it can do dvd/tv. The thing is I want is btooth, mp3, ipod, sat, navtaffic, and backup camera too. Can OEM do all this?

yes....everything but the traffic...a new 16:9 screen goes for $800...you can either get the oem cd changer which will play mp3, or the Dice which can connect the ipod, but not both (don't think the BMW oem ipod integration works on nav models), and there is an oem backup camera kit, oem bluetooth kit is $750

Don't buy Z2 get Z1 instead, almost the same thing but less $$$.

Hahaha... perhaps different box = more $$$…
Believe me man, it's the same, Z1 has a touchscreen. Only difference is that Z2 has new smart routing algorithm, which can "learn" roads that the driver takes frequently and uses that data to influence suggested routes. That sounds absolutely useless.

That's retarded then, I will get the z1 or 16:9 OEM. Sounds like z1 will be cheaper and more features. Do I have to mess with codes?
