Angry Transmission pbs (Update)

Well according to the stealer, I need a new transfer case and drive shaft. He said the gears are all worn out where the drive drive shaft goes into the transfer case, therefore I need to have both replaced, $3855+tax minus 10% CCA discount. My X has 101K, Should I do it or no. The only problem is it's at Desimone BMW in South Jersey and not drivable, therefore I'll have to get it towed anywhere else and pay the towing charges.
Suggestions are welcomed.
TIA

Damn, T...
that sucks. From LM's list the only alt is that joint in Somerdale on the
White Horse Pike, which is in the "area", but I have no knowledge of
their rep or work.

You are rolling the dice: a flat bed job will take part of the day to get
dragged to that indie, he looks at, and maybe can do it, but for how
much less? That's the $4G question...

Hey, if you need a place to stay my Daughter lives on west side of
Cherry Hill and she could pick you up and you could stay at their house
with she & my son-in-law. She lives about 30 mins from DeSimone, in
traffic and works locally...jes' an idea if you need some help. I could
call her and nail it down for you.

Whatcha gonna do? Sit in DeSimone's waiting room for 2 days? Damn...
Good Luck, my Friend.

Thanks MD for the offer that's really sweet of you but I was able to catch a ride home last night, sorry I didn't make that clear.
I've called a few shop of LM's list and BB gave me the contact of her mechanic who's on the BIMRS list and he think he can get it done 4 half of that with a used transfer case and drive shaft still carrying a 6 months warranty. I think I might go that route just because I'm not sure what's next anymore since I just had the valley pan replaced. I love this X & was pretty lucky but damned, 4G's between January and now including this one. It's getting to be a too much to handle type of love.

T,
I hear ya on that kind of "love"...I'd probably go indie too, espc.
since you made it back to DC and the car is sitting in NJ.

I called my D right after I last posted and she was full speed
ahead to come and get you; glad you got home.
Good Luck on the fix.

That really sucks. 4k is a lot of money but changing your car for something "equivalent", used or not, will cost you much more. You got the valley pan changed recently and now the tranny so if your X5 looks good I would keep it. At least you know who has been driving it. Good luck
