OEM Xenon Headlights Arrived.
i won this item from ebay, had a good deal. all included in pictures for $470.00 and picked up from gentle man and brought it home and cleaned it up. it's x5 oem housing with e39 xenon setup planted with AE. once i saw it i was like damn it's big. he used these headlights very gently, no broken tabs, parts, dirts. posting picture for whom wants to have xenon conversion from ugly halongens. and i have few questions to you experts as well. i know where to plug low high beams and turn signals. but where should i connect these 2wires from e39 OEM AEs? and i don't know what is this part for at the last picture. says HELLA Made In Germany. enjoy. and give me advises on installing this baby. and i also ordered Replay packs from zulu95 to avoid check light signal. thank you |

This part is called 'vertical aim control unit' in BMW terms. Or lot of people here call it 'auto leveling motor'. If your car is equipped with halogen headlights originally, you may not have this part and wires installed in your car (most USA version X5s do not equipped with this part). If it is the case, just ignore it and plug all other wires and you are done. 'Vertical aim control unit' enables you to control your low beam headlight to aim higher or lower when necessary.
By the way, lovely headlights, but the ballast for the AE is pretty big, I wonder where to install and secure it.

You can connect it to parking lights, but I would simple connect to +/- with the switch to you can turn it on independently.

If you wire them to your parking lights you would think they would come on when either your headlights automatically go on or when you manually turn on your parking lights.
Living in Seattle its nice to have lights on during the day when its not sunny. I usually have my parking lights on with my fog lights. It makes for an interesting combo.
