Question Aftermarket Drilled Brake Rotors - 4.6is

Does anyone know where I can purchase drilled rotors from Powerstop or Brembo for the 4.6is? I have searched a few web sites but they do not seem to sell them for the 4.6is. I have emails into both companies to find out of they offer the rotors for the 4.6is. I can't see how Brembo would not make them for that vehicle.

If anyone knows of any other drilled rotors for the 4.6 please speak up!

I want to do a brake job with Axxis Deluxe pads. The brake dust is killing me! I figure if I am going to tear down the brakes I might as well change the rotors as well.

Has anyone sanded their brake calipers to make them look a bit better before paint or powercoating??

rears are the same 12.8 inchs. and I believe that the rotors on the front for the 4.6 and 4.8 are the same too @ 14 inchs. So try to search for 4.8 rotors because the 4.6 was only made for 2 years.

Is there a difference in the rear rotors being vented?

Anyone confirm that 4.8 rotors will fit a 4.6is???

If you look at the EBC chart on buybrakes.com you will see that the rotor for the front 4.6 and 4.8 are the same.

I ordered EBC Sport (slotted and dimpled) rotors for the front. but after waiting a week and half for them I called them up and they told me that they are on backorder for 3-5 weeks.

Ordered them from here www.ajusa.com

but got my pads from here www.buybrakes.com (I just saw that they have the same EBC rotors too) Out of stock, I checked.

my pads are sitting here and ready to go ebc red stuff up front, and axxis deluxe for the rear.

As for the rears being vented, you wont notice the difference as the front does most of the work.

Check the EBC chart on www.buybrakes.com same rotors for 4.6 and 4.8.

Morristown gave a quote for the OEM rotors, and OEM are about $100 cheaper per pair than the $300 ebcs were going to run me.

OK, after some guidance from NINCHS and a bunch of searching I think I have found cross drilled rotors for my X5.

From AutoAnything.com:

Power Stop Cross Drilled Rotors - Front Rotors
Fits the 4.8is $109 Each

From BuyBrakes.com

Brembo Ventilated Brake Disc - Rear Rotors
324mm 200 - 2003 X5 $46 Each

I figure I would do this set up with Axxis Deluxe pads up front and perhaps powder coat the calipers black.

Anyone see any problems with this setup for the 4.6is???

is it hard to remove the calipers, mine seem to have oxidized. I would love to powdercoat them as well.
