transmission fail program on agrhh

seems like every couple of months my 2001 4.4i shows me a new error message... 2 month ago it was the engine fail mode. My CPOed X has been in the dealership pretty much every 2-3 months since I purchased in early 2004. It might be time for a RR sport, but i'm sure it ain't no lexus either.
Has anyone seen this error message before? The car no longer displays what gear you are in and can not shift into S/D mode...

Update: after putting car into park, pull its parking break and turned off the car for a few seconds, the message went away. Should I still bring it stealer to check it out? CPO does not cover software programming.
