Fog Light Delete
I bought a Dinan CAI a while back. After examining it there was no real source of Cold Air going into the Dinan air box. I looked into ducting cold air from the oem air inlet but it was getting too complicated. I decided to remove my fog lights and put grill "mesh" in their places. I bought a grill for a 95 M3 off Ebay for $40.
First I removed the bumper cover. It is the second time I have done it and it is getting easier and easier. The only thing I recommend to have handy is a razor blade to cut the hose to the headlight washers and a bucket for the washer fluid. I removed the clamp and tried to pull that sucker off but cutting it and loosing 1/2 of hose was far easier!!!
I decided to nix the headlight washers. I always thought they were silly to begin with. I removed and capped the hose at the washer fluid tank. If you are going to utilize your headlight washers I would look into a petcock and a quick connect for the hose. It will make it much easier to get off if you ever need to remove your bumper cover in the future.
I cut the grill up and slid it in behind the fog light bezels. I sat there for a while trying to figure out how I would mount them. Finally I decided to drill a hole in the plastic and use a zip tie. Easiest way I could think of!! It really worked well and the mesh does not move at all.
All in all quite easy. I know some of you will say how could you live without fog lights??? I do not see it being a problem.... I will post some pics with the bumper cover in place and my CAI install when I get there.....
