Mod Advice: Sport Wheel to M-Sport Wheel

Hi All,

Thinking of changing my '04 sport steering wheel to the M-sport steering wheel (Euro-spec X3 option). Have searched the forum and think i've got all the answers but was looking for final confirmation, especially from those who have done this, of the following:

1. I don't need a new airbag as i can re-use my existing airbag.
2. M-sport wheel rim is slightly thicker with softer and smoother leather.
3. M-sport wheel spokes are narrower with shinier and higher quality material.

Other than that, your opinions would be valued - should i go for it?

Go for it. You will not need airbag if you go with M-sport X3 wheel. You will not regret.

Thanks LeMans - i believe you've done this mod so are well placed to opine. Not needing an airbag would certainly make it an easier decision to make.

I definitely would welcome an improvement in look and quality, but a bit concerned on the added thickness of the m-sport's rim as the sport's rim feels quite right now. I did have an M3 wheel on my previous E46 - is it much thicker than that do you know?

The M-sport wheel is almost twice as thick - and that's one of the things that makes it feel so good! I wish it was even a bit thicker!
