HELP Used 16:9 monitor
I installed a used 16:9 monitor in my x5. EVerything works fine EXCEPT for the screen brightness. The screen is totally dark, you cannot see what the controls are on the screen.

Are you sure the unit was working properly before you did the swap into your X5?

I found at the unit wasn't working properly once I connected it to the stock wires on my vehicle. Could I ship to Alpine for diagnosis and repair?

hmm ... sounds like the unit could have been defective before you even installed it in your car, Justin ... who did you buy it from? somebody on e-bay?

I did purchase through ebay. The good news is the seller lives near me and he is willing to work with me if the unit proves to be defective. I did find a brightness setting. once you press the menu button and then proceed to the SET section, the next thing is to press and hold the menu button for ten seconds and another screen of options will show up. The brightness was all the way up to 10 which is the highest but it is still very dim. Could a bulb be blown out, or does my 10-2000 production x5 have an issue with this unit. however everything works fine and the screen shows everything that it needs to.

I bought a new 2002 X5. The nav monitor was very "dull". It simply needed an adjustment to the brightness. The only way then, was to ask the dealer to do this. On a subsequent (2005) model, this can be adjusted through the display (set) programme.
I would ask your dealer to increase the brightness before carrying on with anything else... Good Luck |

I should add to my earlier post, that if you wear polaroid type spectacles, you may see very little.......!

I have a 9/00 production X5 with the 16:9 screen retrofitted into it, and I have no issues with screen brightness
