Unhappy My X5 And Two Deer

MY X5 AND TWO DEER

Well, it was late Saturday night and my wife was getting ready to pick up our daughter at the Del Mar Fair grounds. My daughter just turned fifteen and is working her first summer job at the fair. My wife stated she was almost out of gas in our Lexus GS400 and she knows I don’t like her to run the Lexus low on fuel, it’s bad for the car, so I told my wife to just take the BMW X5.

I really can’t say how I knew, but I felt that night something was going to happen- and it did. My wife called me about 20 min. after leaving and she was pretty shook up. She had taken a route over the mountain on Del Dios Highway. Del Dios Highway is a dark, winding, two-lane road through scenic Rancho Santa Fe. She was driving @ 50 mph and out of nowhere, two deer just ran out in front of her. She stated she never even took her foot off the gas, she just blew both of them off the road! The X is truly a safe ride, if she was in the Lexus the deer might have just went right through the front window.
I am truly happy my family is safe. Now I’m working with the insurance company to get my baby fixed.

I will add photos soon.

WOW. Glad to hear your wife and daughter are ok!

I bet the deer would agree that the X5 is a tank.

Family first, so happy that your family is safe. The Germans know what they are doing when it comes to design and safety. The X is a mini tank and the 5k lbs. backs that up...

Sorry to hear what happened to your wife and your X5 but I am glad she is ok and this is the most important thing. The X5 is indeed a very solid and safe truck.

Bummer dude sorry to hear that. Deer are always looking for new targets . Around here we have a ton and I've had several near misses with the crazy animals.

Did they run into the side of the car or did your wife hit them head on?

Deers are actually the thing I fear the most when I am riding my motorcycle at night or early in the morning. There are so many in the woods around here. I have been lucky so far but 1 of my buddy riders was not so lucky recently. A deer just crossed in front of him and he could not avoid it. He ended with a broken arm and shoulder and his bike was totaled.
