Anybody have U.S. install instructions for X5(E53) OEM Hitch?

My dealer quoted me 8 hrs of labor to install the BMW OEM hitch. When I showed them a printout of the instructions (PDF) found on X5world, which indicated it was a 3.75 hr job, they said that was for the European version. They claim the U.S. version is more complicated and therefore requires more time.

Have you read this article yet? http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/m...tion-tips.html

Many members here have installed the OEM hitch in 4-6 hours. Having an extra pair of hands helps with the bumper removal and re-installation, but it not required. Seach on "hitch" and you will find a lot of tips and DIY info.

Well I had decided to have the dealer install it to avoid the headaches. This would free me up to shop for a trailer to carry an ATV I just purchased. So the X5 is at the dealer as I write this but I want to argue the labor cost.

I see. Well, IMO you made the right choice going with the OEM hitch. It is so well engineered. Good luck arguing the labor charge!
