Clear Protective Hood cover

Could someone tell me a little more information about the Clean Protective hood cover that goes on your hood? Global Imports want $500 to put it on. Is this something I can do my self? Global does contract the work out.

I don't know much about it, but... Here goes:
I know there are several brands.. BMW makes one, I think... But when I got the 330 they offered me one made by a company that I think was called Autobahnd or something like that. It was nowhere near $500, though. I would highly doubt that its a DIY project.

I would like to congratulate myself on my 100th post!

I think you are thinking of a "Bug" Protector. I am talking about this clear 3M protector that you can't see unless you look really closely. This protects from rocks and what not that might hit your car on the highway.

I've had the clear bra on my X since inception. Mine is the 3M product, but there are others. $500 installed is actually a decent price. I would recommend that it be professionally installed. They come pre-cut for your X, but the tech needs to prep your car (wash, clay), stretch bra to cover as much paint as possible, and heat gun dry. Takes about 4 hours.

It prevents a lot of small rocks from chipping the paint, not to mention, keeps the bug guts off the paint. One of the best investments I've made IMO.

I have the Xpel clear bra on my X5 which uses the 3M film. Triple X5 and some others on this forum also have the Xpel film.

I have the front half of hood, front bumper, rear view mirrors and rear bumper covered.

It works great! I've had it on 6 vehicles now. I also put it on the "A" pillars, lower door jambs (to prevent scratches from shoes), and on my 330, I have it on the full lenght of the rocker panel, as well as a piece on the trunk by the license plate so I can close the trunk without scratching the paint.
