Leaking panoramic roof common?
Went to Manhattan BMW the other day to get a few parts and noticed near the parts counter there were 3-4 crates of replacement panoramic roofs. The labels didn't say what models they were for, but it made me wonder just how common this problem really is (I know there have been several service bulletins issued already). A dealer is not likely to just stock such an expensive part and so I can only assume these roofs were already spoken for.

I would not call a leaking Pano roof common at all, since it has only been out since 2004 it hasn't had time to become common yet. As mileage racks up on E53's (and sun beats down on seals) it may become more of an issue but from what I've seen in the past, BMW's issue falls more in line with the drain tubes of the sunroof leaking on the passenger side then from the unit itself.
Your dealer could be moving parts for other dealers

That's an interesting point. The problem is definitely common enough to have already warranted several SIB's.
