window fell! help!

my friend was using my back window and it made a funny noise. then suddently it just fell into the door. i followed x5worlds directions to open the door and since it was late managed to get the window to go up manually.
from just a quick look i can see some of the metal wire kind of out of place, and when i go up or down on the switch it just kind of twists and the glass does nothing.

what do you guys think the problem is?

it wont go up or down.

is this the window regulator gone bad? or something else?

thanks guys

I would say that it is a very safe bet that it is the regulator. I've had 5 replaced and I do remember on a couple of them that there was a loud pop before the window went down. There is not always the pop though.

Yes, that was your regulator and that popping sound was the cable snapping.

geez i was doing some searching and reading on x5world and just can not imagine how widespread this problem is...

other cars have had their windows break but dang not totally fall into the door!

is there is way to fit the cable without having to buy a new regulator?
