probably dumb questions, but I have them.
What the heck is this thing for? I know it goes in the cupholder on the console, but I have no clue why? ![]() Then, this is the stereo in my dash. Every place I look I never see this thing in any X5s. I've ordered an AVIN 10.25 unit to replace it with all of the cables for the navigation and DSP. How common were these small screen navigation units?

The cup holder tray is just to put small items like a pen etc. The small screen head unit is what I have in my 01 X5 and I prefer it to the wide-screen as all the controls are on my side (I'm RHD) so simple to use. I don't know how common they were though.
