Replace turn signal bulb

Ok, so the "check side lights" reminder was driving me nuts, and I did not want to take my X to the dealer for just a light bulb, so I decided to replace it myself. My local autoparts store had Sylvania bulbs marked 3357/3457. These bulbs are basically the same but are clear. There is a note on the back stating that the 3457 can be used to replace a 3357 but that not the other way around. It further stated that using a 3357 instead of a 3457 could be a fire hazard. My auto parts store did not have a true 3457 bulb.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I know that when I had one go out, I tried all of the local part stores. Nobody had it as it is a different voltage( ) so I had to get them from the dealer.
