The BMW factory warranty continues to amaze/surprise me.

I am so impressed with the BMW factory warranty. It continues to amaze me what is covered. It covers things that I wouldn't think it would cover. On a recent visit for an oil change - the service advisor asked me to tell him everything that was wrong with my X5...so I did. Anyway, to my surprise, the warranty covered:

The fabric on the A pillars (the front interior pillars that hold up the roof) was coming off (or bubbling) it was minor but I mentioned it anyway - so they replaced both sides.

The shock absorbers the lift the rear hatch for weakening - so they replaced both shocks.

The front door handles were starting the peel - they replaced both sides.

The plastic ring or clip around the door lock broke off - they replaced it.

The outside mirrors weren't staying folded in(after hitting the button) - so they special ordered some parts and corrected the problem - I think that involved a lot of labor time.

In the past they replaced my key b/c the range had weakened.

I know that most of you probably know that these things are covered but I just thought I'd mention it for those who don't.

Let me know of anything that is covered that I might be surprised to know.

Do you think BMW would replace the leather on my front seat since it's starting to wear??? That would be sweet!

I've bought a few used bimmers in the past and the warranty basically restored it to new. If you have a competent dealer its even greater, and a time to cherish. LOL

my X's driver side seatbelt is fraying a bit on the edge closest to the door, nothing too bad, do you guys think this kind of thing would be covered under warranty? if not, how much do you think it would run to just replace the belt?

It wouldn't hurt to ask your service advisor. I'm sure what it would cost. Make use of that CPO warranty. Congrats on your new X5.

My mirrors dont fold in either anymore. I wonder if they could fix that?

They covered mine. If it's still under warranty, it should definitely be covered.

mine were fraying, and also told them they weren't retracting fast enough and sometimes they would end up outside the door as i got out. they replaced both seatbelts under cpo warranty..

Other way to look at it is that those things should have never failed.

A lot of it depends on the dealer's discretion. Stuff like fabric fraying and tailgate hatch shocks can be dismissed as "wear and tear" instead of "factory defect".
