For those x5 owners in Australia, have any of you tried this ipod integrated product? http://www.advancedice.com.au/produc...umber=50020neo I just ordered one - will be here in a couple of days. I have to remove my cd changer - which I really dont mind, I think cd's are pre historic now anyway Apparently this integrates with the DSP and its easy to install using the existing cables that plug into the back of the existing cd changer And its all supposed to be integrated with the steering wheel and full support of text in the nav screen I will let you know how it goes! Thanks for your sincere offer of help Tom.
However I managed to install ok with no problems. It was too easy really, just took the cd stacker out and the Neo just plugs straight in - fully integrated - steering wheel controls working nicely, Im happy with it. But I do have a question. My neighbour has a 2003 3.0d X5 and doesnt have a cd stacker so I gave him mine since I dont use it. He is always helping me around the house so its the least I could do. But looking at the wiring in his X5 and the two wiring plugs that typically go into the cd stacker are not there. He doesnt have the nav system, he has one of those bmw standard radios with the cd player in dash. Is the wiring there somewhere? I traced the main loom back and could not see any taped back loose ends. Or does a new loom need to be run from the dash to the rear? Cheers Seafarer |

While this is specifically for the MINI, this kit would apply to your friend's X5 also if he does not have the correct prewiring: ![]() MINI CD Changer Prewiring kit http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=622 Otherwise, if he has an iPod - be may want to go with a DICE also.

Hi Tom
Thanks for your prompt reply If the wiring is not there, are you saying the cabling has to be run from the back of the head unit in the dashboard to the rear? Cheers Seafarer |

Does that mean the IPod sits in the boot? Colin. |

Yes thats right, it sits where my cd stacker was You can fix it down with a bit of velcro The ipod is automatically charged when you use it and the functionality is controlled via the steering wheel buttons and in my case, the sat nav head unit in the dash board Cheers Seafarer |
