X5 4.8is New Tire/Lease End question

Hey Guys,

So my lease is up Nov 15 of this year. I am thinking I might extend it, but i'm not certain. I'd say it's a 50/50 chance. But if the tires are worn, won't BMW make me pay for new ones when I return the car?

So here's the issue, my tires are down to the wear bar. I need to replace them. But with only 3 payments left on my lease, it probably does not pay for me to put on the best tires. Matter of fact, it's probably best if I put on the worst.

BMW wants $1800 to replace the Michelin's.. Forget that ! I know how to call Tire Rack..

Anyone have any thoughts on the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport
Front $235
Rear $252 = $974

Continental's
Front $306
rear $327 = $1266

Michelin
Front $326
rear $371 = $1394

yes, you'll have to replace them. BMWNA will send you an end of lease kit and there will be a wheel included with a depth measurer for your tires. What you might want to do is check with BMWNA and ask how much they'll charge you for worn tires, because the charge might be less than you buying new tires.

That being said, you have to put "like kind" tires on the car or they'll charge you anyway as far as i know. Just call BMWNA FS and ask to make sure.

Here is my experience with BMW end of lease and tire replacement. In 02 I turned in a 99 M3 conv. I was replacing it at the time with a 911. I dropped the car off at Open Road BMW in Edison as the Porsche dealer was on the same road. The M3 obviously needed tires. I just dug my heals in and said I didnt think it needed them. They tried everything to get me to agree. They said BMW would send someone to look at the car and they would probably find more things wrong(the car was pristine other than the tires), they tried to get me to pay for two etc. I signed nothing and asked for a receipt for the drop off. I heard nothing ever and the car was on the dealer floor with new tires in less than two days. Just my two cents.
