Interior Door Handle Problem ( looking all scratched)

Well the handles on the doors of the front seats is looking quite bad. All the material is peeling off and it looks patchy ( looks like a motorola v3x peeling) and i was wondering if there is any way to fix it? or do i have to buy a whole new handle to go there if so how do i install it. I think the wifes rings (bling) caused it when it rubs against it

There are 2 parts. I take it its The actual handle itself and not the trim?

That was a VERY COMMON problem with earlier X5's. It was originally covered under warranty, at which point they would install new improved handles. The only option is to replace the handles.

Had mine replaced while under warranty. Replacement parts were NOT "new and improved" however. They are still wearing down.

You must have received old handles then. My "improved" replacement handles have now been on for about 3+ years with NO signs of cracking/peeling or wear

Both driver's side and passenger's side on my X have been replaced under warranty, the latest being approximately three weeks ago. The Driver's side was replaced almost one year ago and its begun to peel again. I think they are just poorly made.
