My New Rear End

Thanks for all the advice after my accident. I just got my car back from the shop and here are some pictures. I replaced the bumper, put on the 4.8 rear cover, and changed the exhaust tips. Got rid of the Ford Explorer rental, and wow, what a difference and makes me appreciate my X more.

Nice Job, are those the rective exhaust tips?

I know how you feel about the rental, lol i had the explorer for about 3 days and them they gave me a 2005 Infinity FX35 wich is a nice SUV but it can`t compare to my 2002 X5, my x still at the shop getting the 2005 face lift + the aero kit + the same exhaust tips you have, i should get it back soon, right now the onlything dalying the the hole thing is that we are trying to get the 2005 wire hardness that plusg into the head lights

Yep, and they look pretty aggressive on the car. I have had good comments on them. Post some pictures when you are done.

Looks good! The exhaust tips are a nice touch too. You really made lemonade out of some lemons. Did you do the front bumper as well?

Can you take a picture of the tips from the side? I would like to see how far out they are...

I thought long and hard about doing the front also, but at the end, I ended up not doing it and will use that money towards some larger wheels at some point. But I might change my mind later. The only other mod I did this time around was painted the grill and debadged the car.

I mounted the tips flush with the lower lip of the bumper. The ruler in the attached photo is right against the lower rear part of the bumper. Hope this helps.

I hear you about trying to spread out the mod money for wheels but I've got to tell you that your X5 is begging for the 4.8is front. It looks kind of unbalanced with just the rear. Just my $0.02.

I know what you mean. I have been staring at it too. If I know myself, it will be on by the end of the year. I have been spending money modifying my other cars and neglecting this one because it's the newest addition and it's my wife's main ride.
