Question Bmw X5 Instrument Cluster Pixel Fix (faded Pixels)

Well it has started..... my x5 has started loosing pixels in this cold weather we have been having. So when i saw it starting to happen i looked for a fix and well i ended up at ebay. I found this
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....6851&rd=1&rd=1
It is a guide on how to fix the pixles on the x5 but i dont really want to pay $24 for something that may not even work. Does anybody know how to fix the pixles on the cluster?

Thanks

I also have a 2002.I took it to the dealer and they checked the vin # to see when it was put into service, they found out it was June 25th of 2002.Since it was only march of this year, they told me I had to get it in before June 25th and they would cover it 100%.I had them do it that day.Check with your local dealer,if it is out of warranty, they should replace it and only charge you for the labor.I live in St. Louis Missouri,USA.My dealer here told me it would cost around $180 if it had been out of warranty, goodwill or something like that.My dealer is Plaza Motors ,their # is 1-800-325-7060,I don't know our country code, but if you call them, ask for Lee in BMW service.Good luck!

You should search the forum on the topic.

My X5 is out of warranty. I contacted BMW North America and my cluster was replaced under BMW's goodwill policy. I had to pay for one hour of labor. Go to BMW's NA web site, contact customer service and tell them your issue.

Pity BMW Australia aren't so charitable. I did buy this and it looks pretty straight forward although i havent had the time as yet to fix it.

Same thing with me. My X5 is out of warranty, but BMWNA replaced it for free (minus one hour of labor).

Mine was good-willed also, and Fairfax BMW picked up labor as well. '02 model fixed summer '07.
