Unhappy update on cv boot replacement

After looking at torn boot. I could not find any info on how to remove the drive shaft. I do not want to make more work. A online dealer said it would be two or more weeks until they can even get the boots to me. So I called the dealer. They will install it on Wed. For $880.00. New shaft. Maybe this has not happened to nobody yet on this web site. I heard it is not a common prolbem. Thanks again Bill

bill --

they are not cheap. i don't know how hard it is to do, but i doubt its anything super difficult.

if you like, when i get home i can look it up for you on the TIS and post the instructions on how to do it.

its not a written manual. its on CD. its available here and there. there are two components: the ETK/EPC (parts) and TIS (technical information service).

the CD manuals cover up until 2003. after that, BMW moved everything online.

it is possible to subscribe to the BMW site but its expensive. its about $30 for a 24 hour period. well worth it if you know what you want to look up.... monthly and yearly subscription is very expensive and they track your logins.... i don't have the link here, but that's also an option.
