Pentosin 5w-30 for 4.6is?

Hi, so since ive owned my 02 4.is ive changed the oil 3 times with pentosin 5w-30 (117,000-130,000 miles) Is this good oil compared to Castrol? From other posts I know M62's don't like mobil1 (papasmurf's 4.6is)

I wouldn't use it.

Pentosin makes more than one 5w-30. If it is the High Performance blend, it is rated API SL and while that is still a current spec, it is an old one. You can do better with an API SM or SN. If it is the Super Performance III blend, it is not recommended. It is an LL-04 oil which shouldn't be used in North America due to our fuels, and it doesn't appear to have an API certification.

Nothing wrong with Mobil 1 if you don't like Castrol or the BMW oil, IMO.

Not sure where you got the idea the M62 engines don't like Mobil 1 oil, but I have to wholeheartedly disagree with that notion. Just use any quality name brand 5w-30 oil and you'll be fine, also do a search on the forum, plenty of oil threads so no need to start another one. And don't make it harder than it needs to be, it's only motor oil, not jet engine oil...lol!!
