X5 Key question

I've got an 04/X5/4.4 loaded and I bought it used a few years ago and it only came with one key. I think the battery in the key is dying b/c it is not locking/unlocking remotely as of late.
There doesn't appear to be any kind of screw holding the key together to get the key open to replace the battery. Thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks -

Hello,
Make a long trip about 4- 5 hours without switching off the car, and it may be charged again, else you have to order a new key, you have to give your ID card information, and the VIN number of your car to the official BMW office and they will order fir you a new one, In my country it costs USD$200.

I hope that helps.

Bad Key

If driving for a while will not help you will have to replace a key.
I got the same problem and I got only one key. I open it and check the battery is fine it's a key it self.

Is any other way we can charge the key except driving 4~5 hours without switching off the car ? BMW can not expect everyone to drive 4~5 hours just for charging the key..

Just use the key on a regular basis. (Daily) That should do it.

I use my key daily and it holds a charge okay. My husband never drives so his never seems to be charged and work right. We try and remember to use his every once in a while. Good to know the replacement key cost. I have seen it as high as $250 US. OUCH!!
