50000 warranty expiration

Should I have the brake pads and rotors replaced prior to the expiration of the warranty?

Yup, BMW decides when they are bad by checking the sensors.

If you mean have them replaced under warranty for free, I think you are in for a rude surprise!!

if things only worked that way... two outcomes: techicans find the rotors warped, so replace under warranty; or find no problem and pay diagnosis fee and/or still replace but pay.

rotors run about $100 each

Well, they would be replaced for free if under the 4/50 if they are deemed bad.

You can ask. I have friends who have gotten the same done here and all they did was ask.

Same here...had front pads/rotors and an inspection on my 330 in the last month of warranty. Pads were pretty worn but sensor had not been triggered. Also, it was still a few thousand miles away from needing inspection. I had worked with the SA for a number of years so he did me a favor.

No harm in asking but I would say that getting stuff done before its time is definitely the exception rather than the rule.

Generally, if it ain't broken they ain't fixin it.

Good luck
