Window Regulator Failures

The 2003 X5 3.0i experienced what appears a very common failure: Window Regulators. The interesting thing about this is that within a month’s time all four window regulators failed. I understand if one breaks but all four within one month, that is just plain strange. At any rate, I contacted the dealer I take the vehicle too and the Service Advisor quoted me for the front two alone $1230.00.

I just laughed and told him that I would have the car in by next week…..RIGHT!!!!!!
So, I took on the task of replacing the front two first then just this last week the back two.

I spent 140.00 plus dollars each for the two front window regulators and 105.00 dollars each, for the rear window regulators and for less than having one replaced by the dealer I did the work myself.

There is a very good HOWTO on removing the front Window Regulator but not for the Rear Window Regulator although steps are mentioned on how to remove the rear door panel. Therefore, I created a step-by-step on how to perform this procedure with photographs.

Enjoy

Thank you

Thank you UCrewX5 for adding this document to the DIY list. If I have other adventures with my X5 I will surely create a document for future reference.
