Aux cable install
I read the great step by step guide by Steved "Installing the AUX Input on an X5". I have some questions: Are the fuses labeled with numbers. Because I'm wondering if I take them out, will I know which one goes back to which slot? Has anyone broad the cable to the cup holders or ash tray? Hw did you do it? My wife has a 325 BMW, will this guide help with her bimmer as well? |

This is actually my first post, so bear with me
![]() I just added the cable last week and I did it with removing the battery. Probably easier and safer. I installed the connector in the ashtray right above the cigarette "hole". After removing the radio and cd, I also removed the climate control (just push it out but don't disconnect it). You will feed the cable down and fish it through the ashtray. Check out this link. http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/...eferences.html |

There is a map showing the fuse numbers and the correct amp ratings in the fuse box.
As for locating the aux port check out this thread: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-aux-port.html

I removed fuse 7 from the glove box and the 4 in the trunk. Took a photo before I removed so I put them back the same. Failing that, the panel has the different fuse sizes on them.
I ran my lead to the cup holder. Plenty of space behind the nav screen to route it there. I tapes the cable onto a cable tie and pushed it up to the cable connector. |

Did the aux install a few weeks ago, the link was pretty much spot on. Thanks to Steve for posting that up BTW.
My radio mounting screws were in a slightly different area than marked but in the same general location. As mentioned there is a fuse location guide in the fuse box housings, or you can just pull the exact same fuses as in the pics. I installed mine in the ash tray. There is a hole in the left of the ash tray frame, and the ash tray itself has a plastic diffuser on the left which I removed so the cable can enter the tray Just drop the cable down from the radio opening and fish it out through the ash tray frame hole. I opted not to remove the climate control switch assy but it would be easier if you did.
