Add oem subwoofer

i want to add a subwoofer to my 04 X5 3.0i, and wondering if this one is good enough... also, how much is it? my X doesnt have DSP, so will it be just plug and play? or do i need other parts, like wirings, amp?

just add an aftermarket subwoofer to your stock system. you'll be much happier with it. The sound will be much more solid and full with an aftermarket sub than with the OEM sub. Just my opinion though.

I'm currently running an Alpine MRD-M300 Class D Mono Amp and an Alpine Type-R SWR-1241D. Compliments my stock setup nicely. I can't wait to upgrade my interior speakers to BSW Stage 1.

the main reason i was considering the oem sub was trunk space. do you know of any aftermarket sub that wont take much space? and how about the sub amp? do you have pics of your sub on your X installed? salamat pre...

Girardsays it right, go aftermarket if you want quality bass. The OEM subs cannot match the stealth offerings from BSW and JL Audio.

If trunk space is your main concern, you might want to consider BSW's subwoofer system for the X5.

It mounts in the same location as the OEM sub, but offers fuller, more solid bass from what people have said on this forum that have it installed. Comes with everything needed for installation, including the amp.

JL also offers their Stealthbox for the X5.

Same deal as the BSW system, but you will have to supply all of your own wiring and amp.
