1-sided sensing?

I have a 2000 4.4 with sport suspension. When I replaced both lower front control arms I noticed that the right side has what appears to be a movement sensor, but the left side does not. The rod from the sensor is tied to the middle of the control arm.

What is this sensor and why only on the right side?
