Trunk lid always opened?

Hello,

I recently bought a 2003 X5...1 problem, for some reason, i always get a message that the trunk lid is opened and the two lights in the trunk will not go off!! I made sure that the trunk is properly closed...but im guessing it must be something related to the sensor wich is supposed to detect wether or not its closed.

Any idea on how to fix this type of problem? or where this sensor might be??

Thanks,
Dennis

hey dennis,
lemme guess, trunk lid open in all of a sudden right? message shown on cluster display too? it is the sign that your battery is on the way out, it will make all sort of weird things happen. i had my speedo off, abs on, trunk lid open message and some other weird stuff too. took it to dealer, they replace the battery, reset the computer, flash it and all the weird things just went bye bye.

its hard to say weather it happened all of a sudden because i just got the car about 1 week ago and it was allready like that.

Can i replace the battery with out going to the dealer? Do you really need to replace the computer and flash it when replacing a battery?

Thx
