BMWScanner 1.3.6 anyone used it??

Hi All, I have just purchased a BMWScanner 1.3.6 kit for my X5.

I have installed the software but, when I run it all I get is an error saying module does not respond. Initially I thought it was the hardware dongle supplied so I exchanged it for another unit. Same thing. I have now tried 3 units.

So I tried another laptop, it still doesn't work. The shop says they have tested it and it's OK. Funny thing is they don't have a BMW.

I had been to the BMWScanner site before. I had to sign up for the second link... which took me to the rules section for posting messages.

Still no luck there's not much info on these units around.

The other link is for the uk site bmwland & site supporters only but certainly there is some discussion re cables being an issue.

Discussion seems to be of issues re cables with recommendations of usb/serial convertors, pcmca card to serial cables and serial to usb adapter apparently ftdi type are best apprently.

Dont want to say more as I know less than you and you have the kit.

Does this mean anything ?

I have seen those dongles to convert USB to serial. I actually bought a Belkin brand to see if it made a difference, but no change the unit gives the same error. Maybe it's my car??

I don't know anyone else with a Bimmer locally to give the unit a try.

Thanks for the link.
