Yes, the X5 has a stiff european ride. I happen to love it, but I have my limits, and that's why I didn't get the sport package when I had my X5. That would have been brutal.

Stick to that Odyssey/(sic, Oddysey), if you like it...
most Xs, even w/o sport feel a little different/better, imo. GL,mD

The X5 without sport is not stiff at all. The X5 with sport is a bit firm for some American tastes.
Ride a 2004 BMW X3 with sport package. That defines stiff. You can hurt yourself with it too; when you're staring up, gawking at the huge moonroof, the X3 goes over an expansion joint. Your neck snaps back, and you die of whiplash. |

Actually, all BMW's have a firm suspension compared to most cars. The stiffness is there so BMW's can do something soft suspension cars cannot: handle. If you were trying to avoid another car or a child running in front of you, would you rather be driving your Honda or a BMW? Superior handling gives a vehicle and it's occupants an additional margin of safety without sacrificing comfort. A soft ride is perceived comfort.

I agree, my sport X is bumpy, but that is the reason I bought it. It handles like its on rails. If I wanted a smooth ride, I would have bought an Escalade. To each his own. Smooth ride would be nice at times, but then again, I wouldn't be able to handle my turns at 60 mph. LOL. JK, I really don't turn that fast.
