Where is the X5 built?

I have heard stories that they are now assembled in Ohio...

Spartanburg, S.C.

They have a little workshop near a railroad siding...

Most of the parts are imported. Only the final assembly of the vehicle is done in SC.

FYI...the Z's are also assembled in SC. Hondas and Toyotas have also been setting up shops here in the states with about 80% US component contents on those vehicles. So are those vehicles considered "import" or "domestic"?

You're thinkin Honda. Many Honda and Acuras have been manufacturered at their Marysville, OH plant.

BMW only has one plant in the US, and that is in Spartanburg, SC. They do the Z4 and X5 and ship it worldwide.

Maybe; hard to tell where all the parts were sourced.

I've been on the factory floor while X5's were being assembled. Parts is parts; robots is robots. Here or Dingolfing, Deutschland. It's a finely engineered and finely assembled machine. No worries about the South Carolina aspect.

you're just now realizing that cars that say they are from one place can be built in another?

BMW's have been built in NC for 7+ years now, Fords are built in Mexico, Toyota's are built in the US...the list goes on and on......

PS: Toyota creates more 'American jobs' then most other companies in the country.
