I don't get it. I've read many incidents where BMWs have had 20, even 30mph frontal and side collisions and the airbag didn't deploy. And now this happens at 10mph? What's with the inconsistency?

Glad you're okay, but the repair bill will be hefty.

whoa imola, hate to see your X looking like that, at least you okay. So i have heard the airbag can give some shiners/bruises cause of the impact, this theory TRU or FALSE?

Unhappy

Dude!!! That sucks!!! No worries... get her all fixed up and she will be back to normal!!!

I would tell the body shop you want everything that is taken off and not used in the repair. Perhaps you can sell the stuff on Ebay and get back a few bucks.

You could have them paint a new front bumper and install it yourself. Maybe get to keep some of the insurance $$! You could install a new airbag yourself as well. Wondwer what they charge to install one! Takes no time at all. Not sure if anything has to be reset (i.e. computer / triggering mechanism for air bag??)

Not sure if they will just fix the hood.

OUch, looks like at least 4 to 5 grand, It all depends on who does your bodywork if you take it to R&R or Bodyworks in Bellevue it will definately not be cheap. On a good note all your rock chips will be gone

Ya the inconsistency with the airbags is true... i remembr crashing my e46 330xi at like 30mph twice and the airbags did not deploy... but these went off at like 10-15mph

as far as bumps, bruises or black eyes i got none, only a rash/rug burn type thing on my right arm, but ya ive seen some people look real beat up after an airbag exploded in their face, mine was blocked by my arm.

Whoa.... sorry to hear about your X5 smacking a pole. I certainly hope that you get it back to near new condition. So how's about a new front end? Maybe a Hamann?
