Error Code P0500 - Actron CP9135

I recently purchased a Actron CP9135 form Ebay. Hooked it up to my 01 X5. I had had the ABS and Brake lights on. After reading the codes I received the code P0500, which indicates speed sensor A malfunction. The question I have is which one is speed sensor A?

I was also able to turn off my SES light. Handy little item. I got it at a steal for only $57 off Ebay. BMW wanted $138 just too look at the vehicle. This thing is a great investment for those that DIY.

OK, I searched and found that it is my rear speed sensor. OK, does anyone have a link to a DIY page so I can see where it is and how to change it? I see there is also a pulse generator down there also I don;t want to mix the two up. I also want to add that my speedometer and cruise control both work fine. This all happened after I had a complete front and rear brake job done.

I was searching for more info on this problem and I found this.

Does anyone know if this is true? BEacuse I did receive a trouble code P0500 from my Actron.

My ABS and Brake lights came on. I found a shorted out ABS sensor
front right wheel. Repaired, worked OK for a few days, then light back
on.

Then Speedometer quit working. Next start up, worked OK. Then subsequent start ups doesn't work.

I find that there may be a speed sensor on Differential. I also find there may be two on transmission.

I also see where it might be left rear wheel sensor.

If ABS brake module is bad, I don't care to fix. I have 195K miles since I bought it new and only saw ABS come on once...... Brakes should always work.

Would like Speedo again.............. My Tom Tom GPS speed is more accurate but a little harder to see!

Ok, I replaced my ABS sensor 3 days ago. Hooked up the Actron and No P0500 code. Today I hook up the actron to check my P1159 and P1161 codes after replacing my oil separator hoses. Now I have code P0500 again. Any suggestions?

I cleared the codes on my computer 5 days ago now. And I am happy to say that I am clean of any fault codes. It now reads PASS. Hurray.
