Speakers not working

hi guys,

sorry to post a problem with only my second post, but its driving me up the wall!

i only bought my X, and only one speaker is working!

i took out the spare wheel, checked the compartment beside the battery and all the plugs in the amps etc look ok.

any idea on what i could do to find out my problem?

only one speaker works wether i watch TV, listed to CD or radio or put my mp3 into the AV slot.

thanks,
keith.

Could be the amp (left rear electronics compartment) or the radio module (spare tire well). Are you able to see if there are any signals on the pins coming out of the radio module? There is a wiring diagram here - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/s...formation.html

thanks UCrewX5,

any idea on how to open the electronics compartment in the rear left.
when i open the first door as such, i get my SatNav system and CD changer, but i dont know how to open the panel in front of that

i can get to the radio module, but i would have no idea on how to check which one is broken?

thanks for the help so far.

UPDATE :

had me 2002 X diagnosed today by a BMW guy (handy, he has the most up to date tools but doesnt charge dealer rates )

anyway, he found no faults in the car at all, but i was a bit pissed at that as onlt front left speakers are working since i bought the car

he mentioned that it will probably be one of two problems :

1. when the rear screen was been fitted and the playstation and dvd player being wired into the boot, the installer cut a wire by mistake or took a wrong feed. (i dont think this is the case as the last oner would of complained and got it fixed)

or

2. the radio module is buggered!
he is gone strip out the boot next week and trace the wiring to try eliminate the problems. seemly he can by pass the radio module and connect a standard radio up and if that plays out through all the speakers then its deffo a module problem.

my question is, if indeed i do need to get a ne radio module, i understand ebay will prob be my best option, but i was wondering from what models will a bmw radio module work in my car?

the BMW guy said that the the radio is sending its signals to the speakers but nothing comes out.

i think thats how he said it.
or maybe it was the unit is sending the signal through the module but its not reaching the speakers.
