to turn off the interior motion sensor, you can either hit "lock" two times fast on the keyfob when you lock it, or you can crack a window or sunroof open a little.

I don't know how to turn the entire alarm off, maybe use the key to manually lock?

The most likely cause is your hood sensor. It is on the passengerside by the hood support. Just unhook it. I did and mine has been fine! Search on here to find more info and pics.....

I am not sure that this is true. I had the X locked one time with the windows halfway down and stuck my hand in thru the window to grab something and the alarm went off.

Sure glad to know that it works that way.

Of course the best way is to resolve the issue... But if you want...

You can have the dealer program the security system just to arm/disarm the alarm only thru the remote. With this setting, you can simply lock the X5 w/o the alarm by using the key and lock the vehicle manually.

I have this setting for security reasons and would definitely work for your issues.

How much to re-program the alarm at the dealer? I really don't feel like spending another $100 making yet another trip to the dealer...

It was free for me as it was part of the car/key memory programming... It doesn't take long and I'm sure it wouldn't take longer that half an hour if they do decide to charge.

Do you still have factory warranty? If yes, then you might me able to get it for free...
