BMW Software Upgrade

I ask my dealer about any software upgrade for my 02 4.4l, he check and told me that my car had not been in for a upgrade since it was purchased, and that it will cost me $150 and it will take all day to get the upgrade. Has anyone gotten their car software upgraded from the dealer ?. was there any difference ?.

Not really, I just ask the dealer for a software upgrade for my X5 and he told that they will upgrade the X to the latest sofware. He did say that I will have a smoother shift with the transmission, and a better acceleration. the price will be $150 and they wil take me to work since its only 3 miles away. They are United BMW of Roswell.

I had an independant do a Transmission software update at the same time they did a transmission fluid and filter replacement, diff fluid and transfer case fluid replacement.

The software update was $90 and all the adaptables were reset as well. After this service and software update, it felt to me like going into a shift was the same but coming out of the shift felt much smoother and quicker. In my case I'm just happy knowing I have the latest and greatest technology applied. I also have a great deal of trust in the independant mechanic who is a well known BMW enthusiast as well.
