Unhappy Torn both my CV boots...

After 74,000 miles i got both my cv boots torn. I took it to the dealer for an oil change then found out the news. I have no idea how long it's been torn but so far no scraping noises so i'm in the clear. The $tealer wanted to charge $1100 for both of them. But i passed.

How much did you guys pay for getting your cv boot replaced?

I was planning on doing the replacement myself but as much as i want to believe that i'm a good at auto mechanics, i don't think i'm good enough to do this by myself. So i was wondering if anybody in the Chicagoland area can help me out? Or at least give me a good mechanic that won't cost as much.

If you look at the dealer forum. I had a previous post about my good friend
Lito Siwa, at United Imports. He is the owner and head master Tech. there. He is the best, or your money back. I've been going to him for 15 years. Address is 8424 S. 77th ave. Bridgeview IL, 60455. He is the best hands down, you will be extremely pleased with his service, and his price is half of what you would pay at the dealer. If it is something he can fix the same day, he will do it for you, you might have to wait for a few hours, but the job will get done 100% guarantee. He guarantees his work, all the time. Good Luck. I hope you try this guy, you will get hooked from the first day. Tell him Mike A. sent you...

Sorry, phone number would be helpful, LOL. 708-599-2326. Call first and ask for a price. If he can answer he will, if he needs to see it then take it in. Either way, I'm sure you know what the problem is. Just ask him how much he will cost, Labor and Parts...

I paid $560 including tax for both sides, inner and outer boots at my independent mechanic... $500 for one side seems high unless you go to the dealer..

Took car in for a oil change last week to my indie in central pennsylvania, who is awsome, and he found a torn boot on the drivers side.

Oil Change, Balance and Rotate Tires, Replace CV Boot Cover, and turn off air bag light (was faulted) came to $230.00.
