2006 X5 3.0 Sound System

Hi folks - Just joined this forum as I am in the process of buying 2006 E53 3.0. It is fully loaded with Navigation, Sports, Premium, Cold, and Rear Climate Packages. Can someone provide me some information on the sound system it comes with? How many speakers? Subs? Is the CD player a CD changer and where is it located? In the dash or in the back? Does it play MP3s? Thanks!

Thanks!!! This is an awesome thread! Unfortunately, it doesn't really tell me what kind of sound I have if I have the navigation screen.

I don't have the car yet, just pics, so I'll just have to wait until it arrives to see what I get.

The standard sound system has 10 speakers, no sub. The upgraded premium dsp sound system has 12 speakers (dinky 6.5" subs included) - look for the subs in the passenger side rear panel. The cd changer is optional and is located in the driver side rear panel. Both, the indash and cd changer should be able to play MP3s.

This is great info. Since I have navigation, am I to assume there is no in-dash CD player and I probably have a changer that plays mp3s in the back?

The newer CD changer (I believed late 2005) CAN play MP3s. If you're lucky enough, the newer radio CAN also display id3 tags from your MP3s.
