I spent a lot of time researching vehicles and once you reach a certain price range the bells & whistles are pretty much the same. Yes the X5 has an amazing command of the road but so did the Range Rover. It, however didn't make the cut due to poor quality control history. Only the X and the Cayanne offered a manual transmission. For several reasons I couldn't even bring myself to the point of entertaining a Porsche suv/sav. So the X5 was not only the best choice it was the only choice for me.

Uh... actually servotronic (road speed-sensitive) steering is not available on the X5. (It's an option on the X3) Engine speed-sensitive steering is standard on the X5. However, in real-world use, there's really not that much difference...

Thumbs up

NAV is definitely a must have. I refused to purchase another 50k plus BMW without it. Sure we have all gotten around for years without it, but with high gas prices and every road in Texas under construction, man I can't function without my NAV BABE......Phil
