V1 in X5 vs.540

I have a Valentine 1 radar detector which I use between my 540 I and my X 5. The V1 works great in the 540 but I is completely different in my X5. It seams very slow to react especially from the front. When tested at a shopping entrance the detection come from the side and back when facing head on toward the door. I have moved it to different mounting positions on my windshield but there seams to be no difference. Just wandering if anyone has had a similar problem.

Do you have comfort glass in the X? I have the V1/S1 combo and my V1 is mounted on the sun visor. It works great.
